Measured approach sees Cyan progress Indian smart meter opportunity

Cyan Holdings has entered a strategic partnership agreement with Indian utility meters supplier, Larsen & Toubro, to develop smart meter wireless technology the two companies say is likely to become a major factor in the fast growing Indian electricity metering market.

The collaboration covers the development, supply and delivery of Advanced Metering solutions comprising utility meters equipped with Cyan's wireless communication capability for AMI, Smart Metering and Smart Grid Pilot projects.

The partnership strengthens Cyan's position in the Indian smart metering market having announced a number of opportunities last year which could see it take a major slice of an 18 million unit opportunity. Cyan's share price rose 5.7 per cent to 0.46p following the announcement.
