Cambridge promises "epic" Startup Weekend
A new generation of technology companies could emerge five days from now as Cambridge’s first ever Startup Weekend makes a final call to the world’s aspiring entrepreneurs.
Time is running out for would be participants as tickets have almost completely sold out for the 54-hour startup festival that has already attracted people from across continents, eager to create an internationally viable business over a single weekend.
Early pitches are even beginning to appear on the internet in search of an early advantage for what promises to be one of the most intense and exciting startup events Cambridge has hosted.
This open forum on LinkedIn will not affect voting for ideas over the weekend however and some tickets are still available, though with over 70 attendees already signed up for the event, tomorrow, Wednesday 9 March, is the last day to sign up to a chance of becoming a key player in an exciting new startup.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the first ever Cambridge Startup Weekend, with speakers, mentors, sponsors and judges all clamouring to be part of the event,” said Mauro Ciaccio, co-organiser of the Cambridge Startup Weekend.
“There’s still space for attendees to sign up – so whether you are a programmer, designer, marketer, business person or student get on and buy your ticket before it is too late. It promises to be an epic weekend and a chance to have fun and be involved in taking incredibly interesting ideas to the next level.”
Cambridge Startup Weekend takes place at popular tech incubator, St John’s Innovation Centre, and has already attracted entrants from India, Finland, Poland, Scotland, the Netherlands and Germany, attracted by the possibilities the region has to offer technology companies.
This is reflected in the strong package Cambridge Startup Weekend is putting together for participants, which include:
· A chance to pitch to international angel investment network, the Keiretsu Forum, London
· 15 experienced mentors on hand to share their expertise and skills in the areas of mobile, marketing, web, digital and business development
· Special awards for exciting and innovative projects in the healthcare and wireless sectors
· World class speakers and entrepreneurs including Professor Alan Barrell, Dr Shailendra Vyakarnam, Billy Boyle and Jamie Urquhart
• Special Offer tickets are still available for CaBuMe readers, with prices at £50 when you enter discount code PRCAM. To find out more information and to book tickets visitcambridge.startupweekend.org or follow the event on Twitter @swcambridge.
