Idea Transform to provide one-off event funding to Cambridge networking groups
Idea Transform, the weekend startup bootcamp that’s offering participants long term support, has put a call out to Cambridge’s networking groups, offering to provide funds for events that can help unearth ideas that make a difference, the core aim of the startup programme.
Using the legacy funding from last year’s Cambridge Startup Weekend, Idea Transform will provide £150 for refreshments at five events which can be hosted by groups from any discipline including programming, wireless, the creative community, students or from subject areas such as education, health, finance, community or the environment.
Groups wanting to take money for a night of ‘refreshments’ and save-the-planet brainstorming need to apply by Tuesday 13 March.
“At Idea Transform we know that Cambridge has two things in abundance – ground-breaking ideas and a rich, diverse ecosystem of networking groups,” said Jeremy Parsons, Idea Transform co-founder. “This funding for lead in events will help unearth interesting and exciting projects, while rewarding networking groups and creating a buzz for the first Idea Transform weekend on 20-22 April 2012.
“Working with groups across Cambridge is a key part of our programme to support new ideas that will make a real, positive difference to society.”
Idea Transform, which has been created in collaboration with the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), has shown it is serious about standing out from typical startup bootcamps by offering support beyond the weekend alone.
While the weekend aims to marry people with ideas to those with business, marketing and technical skills and then provide hands-on, experienced mentors and inspiring keynote speakers, it will later offer some winners room at ideaSpace to take those ideas and nascent businesses through to more solid ground.
To apply, groups should contact Jeremy Parsons (jeremy.parsons@gmail.com) with details of the proposed event, venue, expected attendees and activities. The deadline for submission is Tuesday 13 March at 12 noon, with successful applicants notified by Thursday 15 March 2012.
