LIVE: Idea Transform 2012

The winning team from 2011 Cambridge startup weekendFifty-four hours to pitch an idea, find a team, build a product, launch a business, change the world.

If it sounds like a stretch it's because it is. Exhilarating though they are, with most of these weekend hack fests, a few weeks down the line it's difficult to shake the feeling of opportunities lost as teams and ideas inevitably dissipate.

This is what Idea Transform wants to change, it wants to take at least one of these ideas, refine and develop it into a profitable and meaningful enterprise that can go on to change the world for the better.

Run by several of the team behind last year's Cambridge Startup Weekend who have partnered with the University of Cambridge's Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), this startup bootcamp is planned as just the beginning, officially the first event.

Winning teams will have a number of opportunities for further mentorship, exposure at events such as Silicon Milkround Cambridge, a chance to pitch to the Cambridge Angels and three months free membership at the ideaSpace Enterprise Accelerator.

There's been a taster event already and one team whose already won one contest at the Cutec and Humanitarian Centre's Global Hack Day, but the real thing starts now, this weekend. Cabume is carrying a live Twitter stream over the whole 54 hours below, but we'll also be back in 12 months, hopefully stood beside a year-old enterprise on route to changing the world for the better.
